Boilermakers Local 13 Backs Allyson Schwartz for Governor
Jenkintown – Citing her commitment to working families, fair wages, and strengthening industry and infrastructure, Boilermakers Local 13 announced today that they are endorsing Allyson Schwartz for Pennsylvania governor.
“Congresswoman Schwartz has long been a friend of Local 13 and has demonstrated her commitment to workers over and over again. Allyson doesn’t just talk about bringing manufacturing jobs to Pennsylvania. She played a vital role in keeping our Southeastern refineries open, securing good paying jobs for our members and many other Pennsylvanians,” John Clark, Local 13 Business Manager, and Martin Williams, Local 13 Business Agent and Vice-President, said in a joint statement.
“We will make sure that she has our full support to give her the chance she needs to re-energize Pennsylvania and prioritize workers the way they deserve.”
Boilermakers Local 13 represents nearly 800 members in forty-one counties in Pennsylvania and New Castle County, Delaware. Its members assist in the construction and maintenance of power plants, refineries, paper and pulp mills, and steel mills.
The endorsement is yet another mark of growing momentum behind Schwartz, who recently was endorsed by EMILY’s List and the United Steelworkers Local 10-1.
“Working men and women all across Pennsylvania are joining our movement to bring bold ideas and a fresh approach to Harrisburg,” Schwartz said. “I am thrilled to have the Boilermakers’ support, and look forward to working together as we focus on the issues that matter to working families and elect a leader who can get real results for middle class Pennsylvanians.”
