Schwartz Picks up another Key Endorsement: Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals

Jenkintown – Recognizing her leadership and record of accomplishment, the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals today announced their support for Allyson Schwartz for governor.

The union, which represents 5,000 nurses across Pennsylvania, cited Schwartz’s advocacy for nurses and other health professionals during her 30 year career as one of the nation’s most respected health care experts as the basis of their endorsement.

“Our union of dedicated nurses and health care professionals is proud to support Congresswoman Schwartz for governor. Just as nurses struggle every day to advocate for patients under frequently difficult conditions, we all deserve a governor who will work every day to advocate for the interests of working families and the middle class: that person is Allyson Schwartz,” Bill Cruice, Executive Director of PASNAP.

Schwartz is a staunch advocate for safe labor practices for nurses and patients, and supported key provisions in the Affordable Care Act that provide loan forgiveness for nursing education. During her tenure in the state Senate, she was the leader on safe nursing standards and the ability of nurses to use their full education and training to best care for patients.

“Whether in Harrisburg or Washington, Allyson Schwartz has always stood beside nurses and health care professionals as we worked on behalf of our patients and fought to protect our professions,” said Patricia Eakin, PASNAP President.

The PASNAP endorsement follows weeks of momentum growing behind Schwartz, including endorsements from United Steelworkers Local 10-1, Boilermakers Local 13, and the backing of prominent national figures like New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan and organizations like EMILY’s List.
